2018 Leopoldina Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
In Stock
“The 2018 Turnbull Leopoldina Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon displays a deep garnet-purple color, leaping form the glass with bright, energetic scents of blackcurrant pastilles, redcurrant jelly, black cherry compote and candied violets plus nuances of unsmoked cigars, fragrant earth, pencil shavings and iron ore. Full-bodied, rich and decadent in the mouth, the gorgeous, densely packed black fruit is beautifully contrasted by alluring tension and a wonderfully plush texture, finishing long with lots of floral and mineral fireworks.”
—Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. 95 Points.
Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Aromatics of dark cherries, dusted blackberries, plums, and creamy cassis practically bounce out of the glass, as tannin-coated, structural dust lures the first sip. From nose to first taste is thrilling, like spelunking into an abyss of dark flavor, stirring a sense of adventure in your glass and in your heart with each sip. The mid-palate picks up where the aromatics left off, fulfilling aromatic dreams. Textural rails move the wine through the mid-palate, binding its flavors into a perfect I-beam (you’ll know it when you taste it) of fruit power, which continues endlessly through the finish.
Winemaker Notes
“The Leopoldina Vineyard cabernet sauvignon is always about power and density, texture and structure. half of this particular vintage of Leopoldina cab comes from the Pierra vineyard block—the cascades of which are generous in this wine. it’s thrilling, and if you ask me, this is one of the wines of the vintage.” -Peter Heitz, Winemaker
