Crafted from our most effusive barrels, Black Label makes a return with generosity and intrigue. Like cumulonimbus clouds rolling in from the distance, blackberries, black cherries, olives, and toasted cocoa command the nose, teasing the all-encompassing sensory experience to come. Ripe black mission figs, wild blueberries, black currents, and kirsch tones transform the palate, fulfilling aromatic promises. Generous rounded fruit tannins resound, whirling along the palate with hints of subtle yet impressive French oak through its endless finish, beckoning the next sip.

praise for 2020 black label cabernet sauvignon

“While the 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Black Label may not offer all the floral fireworks of the Leopoldina Vineyard bottling, it showcases admirable depth and purity of cassis and black cherry fruit. It's full-bodied, perhaps a bit more powerful, richer and more tannic, with hints of mocha and cigar box as well. Long and sultry on the finish, it picks up extra complexity in the form of salted licorice, black olives and earth.”

“I loved the 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Black Label, and it’s certainly a standout in the vintage. Beautifully ripe darker fruits, chocolate, leafy herbs, and some spicy oak all define the aromatics, and it’s rich on the palate, with a layered, textured mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish.”

“This very dark ruby colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Turnbull opens with a black currant and blackberry bouquet with hints of menthol, violets, and molasses and clove cookies. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, rather smooth and polished. The flavor profile is black currant and cedar blend with notes of black cherry, black tea, and mocha. We also detected hints of boysenberry and licorice. The finish is dry, and its flavors and moderate well-managed tannins are sustained for quite a while.”

Ken Hoggins, Ken's Wine Guide. 94 Points.
