Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Fermented and elevated in terracotta amphorae, French oak, and concrete tank to preserve freshness and vibrant aromatics, 2024 Josephine bursts onto the palate with an electrifying zazzle. Layers of citrus—bright lemon meringue pie, zesty pomelo, and a whisper of guava and white pineapple—unfold with texture-driven intrigue. A quenching energy courses through, as its crisp acidity and layered texture create a striking balance of tension and vibrancy—leaving you yearning for the next sip.
Vineyard Notes
2024 Josephine is rooted around a core of estate fruit from our Home Ranch and Fortuna vineyards in Oakville. This vintage incorporates grapes from a striking, high-elevation North Coast site carefully selected by Winemaker Peter Heitz. Located at 1,600 feet on a high plateau that features shallow, rocky soils, this extremely cool and low-yielding vineyard produces beautifully complex Sauvignon Blanc.
Winemaker Notes
As with every vintage before it, our 2024 Josephine was crafted with careful thought and intention to honor its thumbprint of time and place. In the cellar, this involved whole cluster pressing, cold fermentation, and racking to a variety of vessels, including stainless steel, concrete, clay terracotta amphorae, and seasoned French oak barrels for a uniquely dynamic, fascinating, and texturally rich wine.
